How can it even be a year ago?! It doesn't feel like its even possible. Time is flying by!
Since its been a year and its weigh in Wednesday for me I thought I should do an update on what my health and fitness looks like!
Recently I shared with you guys I had gained 8 pounds and I am here to tell you, I have no idea if I have lost it yet, or not! I know, Kayleen what the heck. My chunky little boy has been so fascinated with the scale and I thought okay, that's a good distraction toy...hmmm well its been tossed so many times and stomped on that it pooped out on me. THIS IS WHY I CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS. So, I need to go in to target (oh shucks) and grab a new one. Here's why I kind of don't care! I feel stronger, happier and healthier. I am motivated!
I weighed myself one time ever in high school the beginning of my freshman year and I NEVER WEIGHED MYSELF AGAIN. The next time I weighed myself was literally at the Drs office for my first visit of my pregnancy. Some of you might think I am crazy, but I solely went off of how I felt. I took the scale completely out of my life and based my health on listening to my body. I took the numbers out of my head and lived my life! I am slowly getting back to being able to doing that. I have a goal weight of 140 pounds before I feel comfortable enough to take the scale completely out again. Weight is just a number to me and 160 pounds looks different on everyone! I think one of the most respectful things you can do for yourself is listen to your body and I had a hard time with that when I had a number weighing my thoughts down. So yes, I am going to get another scale to keep myself accountable for my goal, but once I have hit that weight I would like to kick that scale to the curb!
I get asked a lot what my diet looks like, or what I try to stick to when it comes to food! I love food, food makes me whole. I am a foodie to the max! If you follow me on instagram you have seen most of what I eat and the times where I have treated myself with taco bell and kept things in moderation! Well unfortunately for me my body doesn't love all foods like my heart so I have had to make some big changes. I struggle with Endometriosis, my periods get so bad I am usually curled up in a ball and I can't function. When I am not on my period I still have pain and I get so tired and exhausted so easily. Recently after researching I have decided to take processed foods out completely...okay let me actually clarify I will still have a bag of chips, but my bag of chips will have very limited ingredients that I can pronounce. Pretty much I just need to eat completely clean. So all my pastas, cereals, oats, anything packaged I just have been careful about and make sure they are the cleanest ingredients.
When it comes to a diet, I don't have one necessarily. I still eat carbs and fats and don't put much of a limit on anything besides sugar. Pretty much I have taken out anything highly processed (taco bell), candy, those kinds of things, I am limiting myself on red meats and trying to stay away from starches like white potatoes. I do eat organic, but I don't always buy organic. Sometimes the things labeled organic have a long list of things and just cost more so depending on the product and the price, I pick and choose. I eat lots of fruit and veggies! When it comes to chocolate, I usually buy two bars of some natural dark chocolate to satisfy my sweet tooth, or I make my favorite protein shake which I will link here: The protein shake I have loved for 5 years!
These are some of my favorite snacks right now:
This energy drink does not follow the minimal ingredients list, but I like it! I also am trying to cut down my caffeine intake, so I only have these every so often |
I get this protein from Costco! |
okay this cereal is soo addicting, its so crunchy and I will sit my snacky self on the couch and watch my fav. shows and enjoy a bow, or two or three |
AMAZING. That is all. |
As for working out I am doing everything at home without any equipment. Where I live, we have shorter hot months and a lot more cool months. So, I am doing all my workouts outside for as long as I can and then I will spend my money on going to the gym during the winter to help get out of the house! My goal is to workout three times min. each week, I will probably bump it up to four, or five once winter hits, but for now we are always out swimming at the lake, hiking and going to the park any chance we get so I have been able to stay pretty active all around. I love doing any crossfit workouts that don't need equipment and abs! I am super excited to get back in the gym so I can start toning my body.
Here are some of my favorite workouts from this summer:

I feel so confident and happy right now when it comes to where I am at in my journey! I love being able to help inspire and motivate others via instagram and all of your kind words and IMs have been amazing! I am so inspired by everyone doing my five minute burpee challenge, you guys all seriously have helped motivate and encourage more people to GET UP AND GET IT! That has been my motto lately and I absolutely love it!! We all can do hard things when we put our minds to it! WE GOT THIS!!
